Condolence: My heart has been heavy since I heard of Edna's accident in Minnesota which took her life. I've known Edna since our move to Southgate in 1990. Loren, her husband was the first to greet us as we were unpacking. After Loren's death, I helped her in various way as she grieved.A dear, close friend indeed, both of us from Minnesota.
May her family find comfort throughout these days.Helen Gustafson

Condolence: Its with extreme sadness that another of the original Southgate residents leave us for Heaven. Newer residents will miss a gem. I've know Edna since 1988---shortly before Loren left her in our care. She has been a friend & will be missed walking slowly around the compound. I'm positive she's reading these comments from above & smiling as always. We will miss you, Edna.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Edn'as tragic passing. My parents, Lowell and Joyce Hexum had so many good times with her and Loren over the years both in MN and TX! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Condolence: We are deeply saddened and will greatly miss Edna here as Southgate. She was a very special friend to all of us. We were blessed to know her for 13 years. She brought sunshine and happiness to everyone she knew. We know she is at peace and very happy in her new home in heaven receiving hugs from Jesus! Everyone is in our prayers. Condolence: We had talked with Edna Sunday afternoon on the Phone. She was very much looking forward to seeing her brother, Armin this week. She jokingly said people were taking cookies to his door for reasons which she needed to look into. Evidently she accomplished her mission. Perhaps all of us, and especially Armin, can take comfort in the joy she got from their visit just before the tragedy.

Condolence: Edna was a dear friend and neighbor. I was so fortunate to be able to work in the Southgate Office with her here in Pharr, TX. She will be missed by many.

Condolence: Edna was one of the first persons we met when we built our home in Southgate in 2004. We always exchanged greetings when she was out walking and sometimes would sometimes exchange comments about our Minnesota "roots". Edna could always be counted on to help with events at the clubhouse, usually collecting money from the attendees and handing out name tags. If she was sitting in her garage when Joan was out walking in the mornings, she would invite Joan to stop for coffee and they would chat a bit. Edna liked to walk over by the Southgate entrance and that is where we waved goodbye to her as we left for our drive back to Minnesota for the summer (not knowing it would be the last time). She will be missed!

Condolence: We are so saddened to hear about Edna. She always had a smile on her face. She will be missed greatly by her Southgate family.
She shared a recipe with us that we renamed "Edna's Beans". She thought that was a wonderful name. Will think of her often.

Condolence: We will so miss seeing Edna in Southgate, her home in Texas. She was always so pleasant and quiet. Often when I left for work, she would be standing by our front gates gazing out at the fields across the road. There was a itty-bitty "farm" there with horses, cows, and chickens. She said she liked watching the scene.... I wonder if she was thinking of her Minnesota home. As sad as we are thinking of losing her, I'm glad she was home in Minnesota driving out in the countryside for her final days. Rayna & Paul Delaney
