Gabriel Thomas Kolden received his angel wings after receiving some traumatic injuries believed to be a result from shaken baby syndrome on May 16, 2016. Though we are saddened by how short his life was, being only two and a half months old at his passing, the impact that he made to so many in such a short amount of time is something to be treasured. He was called a sweet angel by almost everyone that knew him. His sweet and laid back temperament made him loved by so many. “Baby Gabe” as he was called by so many, was a constant observer. He never really upset unless he needed something but looking at his surroundings and taking it all in. He had the most adorable little pout, expressive eyes, and would sleep with his arms over his head in a touch down pose. He was constantly making men and women swoon over him and in the words of one of the nurses making their “ovaries jump.”
With Gabe’s passing we need to make the difficult decision to remind ourselves and others that though his life was so much shorter than we would have liked it is one to be celebrated and cherished. He will always be missed and questions will be asked about why, however, we also have to be thankful for the time that we had with him and cherish it in our hearts. Those who knew him are forever changed for the better and he will never be forgotten. He is now in God’s loving embrace.
Gabe is survived by his parents, Bekka Kolden and Alberto Jimenez of Marshall, Minnesota; brother David Jimenez; maternal aunts Sarah Kolden Fleener (David) of Hartford City, Indiana and Rachel Kolden of Austin, Texas; maternal grandfather Tom Kolden of Wadena, MN; paternal grandparents Juan and Micaela; paternal uncle Geraldo and family; paternal uncle and aunt Caleb and Brenda; godparents David Swanson and Brooke Schmitz of Marshall, MN; and many cousins and aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barb Kolden.
