Obituary for William "Bill" Doom

William Joseph Doom was born on July 9, 1943, in Marshall, to Emil and Marie (Van Moer) Doom. He grew up and attended school in Marshall. On September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Diane Suess at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple farmed and raised their family near Marshall. Bill served in the U.S. National Guard from 1965 – 1971. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed farming, spending time in his shop, working on old Oliver Tractors and thinking up and building new things to use around the farm. He was especially proud of the snow blower and sprayer that he built. He enjoyed playing rolle bolle and following the Minnesota Twins. He was especially fond of spending time with his family and will be remembered for giving his “raspberry kisses” to the grandchildren.
Bill died on Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home in Marshall, under the care of Prairie Home Hospice.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, of Marshall, son Todd (and Monica) Doom of Marshall, daughter Staci (and Lee Guscette) of Wimbledon, ND, grandchildren Tyler, Brady, Ryann and Madyson, daughter Melissa Mohn of Marshall, grandchildren Hayden and Logan, son Justin (and Mel) of New Ulm, MN, grandchildren Hazel and Adelaide, sisters Maurine (and Greg) Goblirsch of Arlington, MN, Catherine Verkinderen of Marshall, Elaine (and Conrad) Hennen of Marshall, special nieces and nephews Rod Fischer, Cheryl Crawford, Michelle Ziebarth, Scott Fischer and Brad Fischer. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Marie Doom, grandson Ethan Guscette, sister Sharon Zender and brother-in-law Joe Verkinderen.
