Obituary for Alice Blomme (Dierickx)

Alice Blomme (Dierickx)
Alice Beatrice Blomme was born on April 13, 1920, to John and Elizabeth (Schaubroeck) Dierickx in Noonan, North Dakota. She was baptized into the Catholic faith on May 9, 1920. Alice moved with her parents and family to Marshall from North Dakota in the fall of 1931. She and Emil Blomme were married on February 4, 1941, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They farmed by Ghent and later moved to the home farm south of Marshall. The couple retired from farming in 1954 and built a new home in Marshall. Emil passed away in 1993. Alice did some part-time jobs, such as working as a newspaper reporter, clerking at a clothing store, worked at the Catholic school, and in later years, she and a sister-in-law cleaned a professional office. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Her hobbies included traveling, shopping, baking, textile painting, bird watching, many hours of solitaire and , most importantly, time with her family. Alice will be remembered for her wittiness, love for family, and her strong faith. She looked forward to reuniting with her husband and her extended family members. The family extends a special thanks to the Boulder Estates and Morningside Heights staff, each of whom became extended family members of Alice and her family.
Alice died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by three daughters Marie (and Larry) Kor of Cottonwood, Louise (and Larry) Schmidt of Marshall, Carol (and Jim) Edwards of Marshall, four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.
