JoAnn Carol (Meyen) Fier was born on April 18, 1951, in Canby, MN, to Walter and Ardis (Anderson) Meyen. She grew up in Canby and graduated from Canby High School in 1969. On November 13, 1971, she was united in marriage to Joseph Fier at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. JoAnn worked at the bank in Canby for a short time before she began raising her family. She enjoyed working in the dairy barn where she will be remembered as the “first one in and the last one out.” In addition to raising her children, she was also known as a “second mother” to many, whether cooking meals or providing a place to stay no questions asked. She enjoyed camping trips with her crew and watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed cooking and made everything taste good. She always had a Hershey’s chocolate bar and a cup of coffee ready. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle, loving and caring personality.
JoAnn died unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at her residence in Taunton. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe, of rural Taunton, children Kelly (and Tim) DeVlaeminck of Minneota, Karen (and John) Rolbiecki of Minneota, Kevin (and Mindy) Fier of rural Porter, Kurt (and Julie) Fier of rural Taunton, Kris (and Stacy) Fier of rural Taunton, 14 grandchildren, brothers Mike (and Sharon) Meyen, Walter (and Jan) Meyen, Gene Meyen and Jim (and Theresa) Meyen, sister Jane (and Lynn) Huge, in-laws Mike and LuAnn Fier and Sharon Fier, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and nephew Neil Fier.
