Elton Orel Corrow was born on June 24, 1916, in Stanley Township to Joe and Della (Wilson) Corrow.  He grew up on the family farm in Stanley Township.  Education was important to Elton.  Although he had to drop out of school at age 16 to help provide for his family, he later obtained his G.E.D. in 1967 at age 51.  On April 16, 1939, he was united in marriage to Viola Arfmann.  He was a devoted and very loving husband every day of his marriage.  Elton enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific during World War II.  He was re-activated from 1950 – 1951 during the Korean War.  After his discharge, he worked at various jobs and retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in December of 1979.  After retirement, he worked as a Guardian Ad Litem for Lyon County.  Elton lived in the Meadows in Worthington for a few years and for the last nine years he was a resident at Boulder Estates in Marshall.  He was a member of the U.S. American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, Zurah Temple Shrine and Christ United Presbyterian Church.  In 1995, he was awarded as Outstanding Senior Citizens Volunteer in Rock County.  Elton loved poetry and was very able to set verse to memory.  He died on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.

He is survived by his children El Duane (and Jean) Corrow of Elk River, David Earl (and Lynda) Corrow of Paynesville, MN, James Joseph (and Ann) Corrow of Long Valley, NJ, Daniel Jon (and Lynn) Corrow of Webster City, IA, Mary Lisa (and John) Conant of Fargo, ND,  and grandchildren Suzette Licari, Tony Corrow, Christopher Corrow, Patricia Korsan, Joseph Corrow, Lauren Corrow, Claire Corrow, Rebecca Conant, Bradley Conant and Kyle Conant.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola, his parents, infant son Allen Lee, brother Lawrence and sister Marjean Knieff.
