Prudy Kiel was born October 21, 1921 to Ernest and Lena (Nuese) Kiel near Clara City and lived in Marshall from 1931 to 1939.  She graduated from Marshall High School.  At the beginning of World War II, Prudy worked as an inspector for the Railway Motors of Fairmont manufacturing aircraft parts.  In 1943 Prudy moved to Corpus, Texas where she took a navy course in aviation metal fabrication.  That same year Prudy married Gilbert Sheely, a navy aviation metal smith from Fairmont.  For the next two years Prudy worked as “Rosie the Riveter” helping to construct war aircraft at Corpus Christi and Norfolk, VA.  After the war Prudy and her husband lived in the states of Oregon, Idaho and Washington.  After their divorce in 1981, Prudy moved back to Marshall where she has since lived.  Prudy was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women and a member of the Adult Community Center in Marshall.  Prudy enjoyed going on trips to such locations as Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti.  Of her different travels, Tahiti was her favorite place to visit.  Prudy also liked parrots and owned one for thirty years.

Prudence (Prudy) Sheely passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall

My Aunt Prudy was a wonderful Aunt. I have several fond memories of her when we visited her and she us (with her family). She was the Aunt the put meaning in "extended" family. The type of Aunt that I would have model myself after and would be for my own children. She raised 2 wonderful boys that are now men whom she would be proud.
I am so happy I was able to see her 2 years ago, she truly will be missed by all whom knew her.
