Rehkamp & Horvath Funeral Directors provides a full range of funeral service options, from the traditional religious service to a contemporary service. Each family is provided with the opportunity to learn about and discuss the wide variety of funeral service options available to them.
When Death Occurs
When a death occurs, many decisions and arrangements need to be made. Friends and family may be very supportive; however, all of the activity can be very tiring. Grief and the sense of loss may be exhausting as well.
A good first step for the family is to notify your funeral director. A licensed director from our staff is ready to respond to your call at any time, 365 days a year. Even if the death occurs away from home, our staff will work with officials and funeral personnel where the death occurred to ensure the safe return of your loved one. We will provide experienced guidance and education as to your options. Some of the decisions we assist you with include:
- Deciding on funeral times and locations
- Choosing a cemetery grave space
- Selecting a cemetery marker or monument
- Notification of friends and family
- Notification of clergy
- Gathering statistical information for a death certificate
- Gathering information for an obituary
- Selecting printed material
- Selecting a casket and burial vault
- Choosing Casket Bearers
- Choosing other service details including readings and music
- Selecting floral arrangements
- Selecting clothing for the deceased
- Choosing a photograph for the newspaper notice
- Arranging for military or other fraternal participation
Once the details have been set, our staff will assist you with the service related details. We work in coordination with the local church personnel: clergy, musicians, ushers, lunch committee, etc. We also arrange for details for the final interment. We assist with submission of obituary information to newspapers, radio and other media. Our goal is to provide expert counseling and education for the families we serve as to your options in order to create a service that will be honor the life that was lived and provide meaning to those left behind.
